Will Delta 10 Get Me Lit?

Share if you care

The short answer: yes, delta 10 will get you absolutely baked. Thank you, good night! (Waves to the crowd, drops mic.)

So, you’d probably like to know how lit: Are we talking about a Christmas tree or the bulb in a glovebox from your uncle’s 2001 Honda Accord? Let’s back up a bit and explain what delta 10 is. Our favorite little flowering herb, cannabis, has a thing called THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which is the chemical compound that makes it groovy. The THC itself exists in a few different forms. You’ll mostly hear about delta 8, delta 9, and delta 10 THC. And you’ll certainly feel the psychoactive effects of each of them. Delta 10 is a recent discovery; it’s been known for just a few years. Found in hemp and marijuana plants, delta 10 THC is an isomer of delta 9 THC. But whereas delta 9 is plentiful, delta 10 exists in only trace amounts. You can enjoy both forms of THC in a variety of super-dank products.

But before we get to the gummies, vapes, and other delta 10 products, let’s first dig a little deeper into this dank delta delight.

What’s Delta 10 Like?

As with most anything, your mileage may vary. The main difference between these three cannabis compounds is their potency. Many people feel delta 9 THC is the strongest and delta 10 is the mildest. Because science can’t make anything easy, delta 8 is in the middle and messes up any way to think about the numerical values. While these cannabis cousins have a similar chemical formula, each THC compound has a slightly different molecular structure.

In contrast to the sleepy or stoney effects many people feel from other forms of THC, guests traveling on the delta 10 train often describe feeling energized and focused, without paranoia or anxiety. While delta 8 is known for being the more mellow of these cannabinoids, delta 10 seems to behave the opposite way, which is why so many people enjoy it during the daytime.

Is Delta 10 Like Sativa or Indica?

If you’ve already accumulated some frequent flyer miles and know how different cannabis strains affect you, the consensus is that delta 10 is most akin to the feeling a cannabis sativa brings. Delta 8 is very comparable to a mellow cannabis indica. Delta 8 fans often consume it for stress or to chill out for bedtime. In contrast, delta 10 is often preferred for euphoric effects during daytime use, replacing an alcoholic drink, or by people who like and enjoy sativa.

Is Delta 10 THC Like CBD?

Delta 10 and CBD are both cousins, in terms of being cannabinoids, with delta 10 being more the black sheep compared to the squeaky-clean CBD. Consuming delta 10 will give the benefits of psychoactive properties that CBD doesn’t have. If you’re looking for pure health and wellness benefits, CBD is your buddy. It may help you sleep better, relax, and minimize aches and pains. If you’re interested in some of CBD’s positive elements, but also want a side order of buzzy fun, delta 10 is most likely what you’re after.

Like CBD, delta 10 exists naturally in the legal hemp plant and in not-always-legal weed (marijuana), but only in trace concentrations. The higher concentrations of delta 10 necessary for producing delta 10 products must be produced using additional cannabis extracts, beyond what you would normally be able to coax out of hemp oil.

The Buzz on D10 THC Buzz

Since delta 10 THC is a psychoactive cannabinoid, it can get users buzzed. Most of the time, delta 10 rates about 70% as psychoactive as delta 9, so it’s a bit like delta 8 in that regard. This means delta 10 won’t get you as wicked baked as some of the more spacey varieties can. It’s a more manageable type of intoxicating experience for those of us who don’t have a multi-hour commitment to make to the ride, due to work, kids, and other fun stuff.

People describe the delta 10 effects as very enjoyable. If you’ve experienced delta 8, you may have noticed that this cannabinoid produces a more relaxing effect, similar to the intoxicating effects of an indica. As previously mentioned, delta 10 feels a lot like sativa. Rather than feeling very mellow after taking it, many people say that they feel refreshed, invigorated, and even uplifted. It’s easy to imagine why people prefer delta 10 THC for the daytime.

Overall, its fanbase says that they feel more clear-headed using delta 10 THC products than products with delta 9 THC, so they have a better chance at keeping up with daily activities. Just remember that delta 10 is intoxicating, which means “daily activities” should be watching videos and doing laundry, not driving or operating heavy machinery. So, wait for a delta-10-free day to break out the Bobcat or start plowing the fields.

Also, if you think you may have a drug test on the horizon, keep in mind that delta 10 could potentially cause you to fail. Standard urine-based tests identify THC-COOH, an enzyme that is responsible for metabolizing THC compounds, including not only delta 9 THC, but also delta 10 THC. Most tests can’t distinguish between variable THC isomers. That means you may pee positively for THC no matter what type you’ve consumed.

Delta 10 vs. Delta 8

If you’re on the delta 8 squad, but want a little something-something that’s more uplifting, delta 10 may be your jam. Delta 10 THC was discovered relatively recently in the wilds of cannabis land, and it’s already proving to be hugely popular among even the most particular hemp aficionados out there. Delta 10, like delta 8, is a THC derivative that offers milder effects than delta 9 while still being noticeably psychoactive. Many people say that while delta 8 behaves like an indica, promoting more nighttime-oriented effects, delta 10 behaves like sativa, offering something of a boost that can be enjoyed during the daytime hours.

How Is Delta 10 Made?

Delta 10 THC is present in extremely low levels in the hemp plant. Isolating it can be time-consuming and costly. Most delta 10 THC on the market is made through an isomerization process, in which delta 8 molecules are reorganized to convert the cannabinoid into delta 10. Isomerization takes an already naturally occurring compound in hemp and changes its chemical structure to convert it into a new compound. The short answer is, it’s a lot of work. Various cannabis oil extraction methods, including distillation and isolation techniques, are employed to concentrate delta 10 THC.

Will Delta-10 THC Help With Sleep?

Delta 10 THC isn’t often associated with sleepy effects, as it’s more of an uplifting cannabinoid. Users who are sensitive to the effects of cannabinoids, in general, may feel drowsy after taking them. Your first try of delta 10 THC should be in the evening when you have no real responsibilities for a few hours.

Will I Feel Paranoid With Delta-10?

Probably not—unless you’re paranoid to begin with, then maybe you should see a therapist. But overall, anxiety and paranoia seem to be far less common with delta 10 than with delta 9 THC. Since delta 10 THC is milder overall, and the effect doesn’t bring on brain fog or mental impairment, it’s generally just not one of the common side effects. Like anything, though, if you take a boatload of it, you could very well experience side effects. It’s always good to go slow with a low dose at first when starting any new products containing cannabinoids, delta 10 or otherwise.

How About Stress?

There have yet to be many studies on delta 10 effects. Anecdotally, delta 10 may offer some level of stress relief, as many cannabinoids share this trait (including CBD and CBN). Overall, delta 10 seems to provide positive effects on mood.

Stimulating Creativity

Some fans describe delta 10 THC as providing a stimulating effect that boosts their creativity and focus. The effects are subjective and vary widely among users. The results may not be replicated across different people. Some artists may make their finest work on delta 10 and some may need to put it directly in the recycle bin.

Road Trip Ready?

Even though delta 10 THC is legal, you should not drive after consuming it. Driving under the influence of any intoxicating substance isn’t cool, along with being illegal and having serious consequences. Besides that, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated is dangerous, not only to you but others on the road.

Delta-10 vs. Delta-9 THC

Delta 10 THC, like its more prevalent counterpart delta 9 THC, is believed to possess psychoactive properties. Unfortunately, it’s not something where you can look up Amazon reviews. It’s kind of word of mouth and a few science-based studies. Consumers who have used delta 10 have reported experiencing milder effects compared to delta 9 THC. It’s all pretty subjective, though. Experiences can differ widely among each person due to various factors, such as dosage, THC tolerance, and metabolism. Also, if your lunch was a salad many hours ago or if you just finished a family-size box of mac and cheese.

Chemical differences between delta 10 THC and delta 9 THC may account for variations in their effects: like Coke and Pepsi, but a lot more so. While both cannabinoids share a similar structure, the placement of a double bond in their molecular structure differs. This affects the way they interact with the endocannabinoid system.

Since We Mentioned the Endocannabinoid System

The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is a cell-signaling system in the body that helps regulate and balance bodily functions. It’s kind of like the computer chip in your car that makes it so you have to take it to the dealer every time. Luckily your body isn’t a car, and you can fix some stuff yourself. Research suggests that the ECS may be a potential therapeutic target in numerous physiological conditions, such as energy balance, appetite stimulation, and blood pressure. The chemical composition of delta-10 THC involves carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen atoms arranged in a specific molecular structure. It interacts with the body’s ECS, primarily binding to cannabinoid receptors, notably CB1 and CB2 receptors, although the specific mechanisms and effects of delta-10 THC are not as extensively studied or understood as those of delta 9 THC or CBD.
