Why Do Vape Pens Clog?
“Gee golly, why does my vape pen get clogged?” It’s not your fault, it happens to all the best THC vape pens. It’s a sign of super high-quality cannabis oil, so yay!
When you find your vape pen clogged, it’s typically clogged due to condensation. It’s impossible to be sure that you’ve inhaled every last bit of vapor from your pen and inevitably, there will be some residual condensation left in your mouthpiece. Sometimes this condensation can get stuck to the point where it makes it nearly impossible to get a good drag. If you’re an experienced cannabis enthusiast, you’re used to this kind of stuff.
It’s just like resin building up in your pipe or bubbler and is probably a familiar occurrence for many of you seasoned space cadets. The thing is, our vapes contain such potent oil that the “resin” builds up faster than straight ganja or other less potent forms of THC.

How to Fix a Clogged Vape
#1. The “Blow and Pull”
Step one; get your mind out of the gutter. The blow and pull isn’t something you do with your partner… It’s a technique used for quickly clearing your vape!
Blow: Start by blowing into the bottom of the pen right next to the charging port. This should create some additional airflow by helping to clear the air intake.
Pull: Now that you’ve done a solid job blowing your vape, flip that baby over and take a nice hard pull from the mouthpiece. If sucking isn’t doing it for you, it’s time to turn up the heat!
#2 Hot Hot Heat! (or, um, medium heat)
If the ol’ blow & pull isn’t clearing your mouthpiece, it’s time to bring the heat! You can use any number of devices such as a hairdryer or car heater, but DO NOT APPLY ANY OPEN FLAME OR EXCESSIVE HEAT TO YOUR VAPE DEVICE.
The whole goal here is to heat up the mouthpiece very slightly so it allows the THC oil to convert back to a liquid from a solid or at least make it malleable enough to be freed. You can even use your own hot breath to warm the mouthpiece.
#3 Repeat
Once you’ve warmed your mouthpiece slightly, give it a nice strong pull. Typically about 3 seconds of good suction will clear the mouthpiece and get you back on track. If you still feel a bit of resistance, just repeat the aforementioned steps and you’ll be good to go!

Remember, a clogged THC pen really isn’t a big deal. We know some people have zero patience and will just toss a clogged vape in the trash, but that is seriously wasteful. How to Keep Vape Cartridge from Clogging
There are a few ways to keep your vape from clogging, but they’re a bit impractical. The best way to keep your vape from ever getting clogged is to keep it in the upright position 100% of the time. Sound realistic?
Another way to keep your vape from clogging is to take a nice long drag to heat the vape up, then hold it upright until it cools completely. While this is definitely a more feasible option, it’s easy to forget.
